Available Fabrics
Use of fabrics greatly improves Pneuma-Seal’s ability to seal against high pressure differentials or exert clamping/actuating forces greater than normal. The fabrics becomean integral part of each Pneuma-Seal through a very unique molding process. The specific fabrics vary between profiles. Contact Pawling for details.

Nylon
A high tenacity yarn that is tough and abrasion-resistant. Nylon is the most
common fabric used in
our inflatable products, because it is strong and pliant thereby enabling
our products to dynamically
inflate and deflate. Nylon is a cost effective
alternative to other fabrics.
Dacron® Brand
Polyester
Dacron is another high tenacity, high modulus
yarn used primarily when high flexibility is
required. Dacron can be used with silicone and
organic polymers and is especially effective in
applications where heat > 250°F is present.
Nomex® Brand Aramid
Nomex is one step above Dacron in its ability to
withstand temperatures and chemicals. Nomex
is often used in conjunction with silicone as
both materials are able to withstand temperatures >°250F.
Kevlar® Brand Aramid
Kevlar is the by far the strongest fabric Pawling uses. It is temperature-resistant,
tough, and
has a high modulus. Kevlar can only be used in larger cross sections due
to its thickness and its
cost needs to be weighed against the benefits provided.
